Kinan KVM Extender Solution for Shenzhen Media Group

Shenzhen Media Group (SZMG) is one of the leading enterprises in China’s radio and television industry, and is a state-owned cultural group in Shenzhen, with 10 TV channels, 4 seats of radio frequencies, 4 self-owned new media platforms, and more than 20 industrial management enterprises, providing a variety of high-quality programs and services for the audience.

In this digital era, SZMG attaches great importance to building its core competitiveness through the optimization and upgratding of publicity, content and technology to meet the needs of the market and the audience. Two of important KVM devices are extender and slider. Both of them are playing an important role in live television, film and television production, and other audio and video transmissions.

Requirement

The purpose of SZMG is clear: Workstations are interconnected with a library of remote electronic devices and can be run in the editing room, control room, and office without the need to install noisy and hot equipment locally. The system must be ready for 4K and , to come, 8K. There should be no delay when transmitting high-resolution formats-latency is an extremely important parameter in the broadcasting industry.

Solution

According to the needs of SZMG, Kinan sent engineering personnel to build th e KVM system combination equipment of extender and slider.

A TV station’s broadcast control room needs to control multiple video editing workstations and broadcast systems at the same time, and these devices are in different rooms or locations.

In this case, the engineers use the Kinan KVM extender-KFH201S to transmit the computer signal to the operating seat far away from the control center, and then connect multiple computers together through the four-port switch KM0104, which is convenient for the operator to quickly switch and control different equipment.

KVM extender (keyboard-video-mouse) can extend a computer signal to remote location. The computer’s keyboard, audio, video, and mouse signals can be transmitted to a place for away from the computer.

In this case, Kinan uses KVM extender to control the computers between the control center and the live studios. KFH201S can transmit computer signals to the remote location via fiber optic. Therefore, the control center of the live studio can remotely control and manage multiple computers, such as video editing workstations, playout systems, and audio equipment and so on.

The main feature of the 4-port switch KM0104 is that it can support the switching and mixing of 4 different input signal sources, as well as real-time output signal processing and control.

Features

  • KFH201S KVM extender applies HDBaseT 2.0, achieving uncompressed transmission without delay (<1ms).
  • The resolution is up to 4K and the transmission distance of single mode is 10km.
  • Support dual-screen, 2-channel high-quality HDMI signal transmission.
  • Support USB2.0.
  • Support hot-plugging.

Result

The staff of SZMG can switch seamlessly between 4 screens via mice or hotkeys by connecting KM0104 to multiple computers, improving the efficiency and reliability of television broadcasting and saving space and device costs.
